ADA Simplified


Height changes are effective for installs after March 2012.

Audio Compliance is mandatory by March 2012.


Older units - i.e. 56XX, Diebold i, ix, not using a Windows operating system like OS/2

  • Must rely on wave files from the host. If not available now, highly unlikely in the future.
  • Also, will need an audio jack and kit for access; if not installed already, may be difficult or impossible to get.
  • Most likely, these units will have to be replaced.


Fujitsu ATMs

  • These units almost certainly will have to be replaced.


58XX (Personas) prior to 2005+/-

  • Will need a private audio jack and kit installed if not present already.
  • Software must be upgraded to Aptra Advance or Aptra Edge.
  • Likely will need a PC upgrade to accommodate the software.


58XX (Personas) 2005 and later.

  • Will need an audio kit if not installed already. Presence of public/private audio in these machines is likely.
  • May or may not need an upgrade to Aptra software.
  • Likely will require modest upgrades - mostly software.


All ATMs will require "Real Speak" text to audio software. Most ATMs do not have this now.

Most units will have to be touched in some way.
